Prerequisites:

Attendees should have at least one year’s experience using Web Intelligence.

Synopsis:

There are times one of the most dynamic and user-friendly features of Web Intelligence – default aggregation – limits report developers when creating required calculations in reports. This hands-on immersion boot camp will explore using advanced calculation context to create customized solutions to challenging report calculation requirements.

Major Topics Include:
  • Using Input context
  • Using Output context

Tuesday June 23rd – Module 5

Exploring Built-in Functions & Formulas

Intended Audience:

This module is intended for users and report designers who are experienced in Web Intelligence 4.1 and are looking to create custom reporting solutions leveraging many of the available built-in functions.

Prerequisites:

Attendees should have at least one year’s experience using Web Intelligence.

Synopsis:

There are many formula functions built into the Web Intelligence report designer.  Many of these functions are similar to functions found in other reporting tools, and many leverage the metadata within Web Intelligence, and the Business Objects platform.  This hands-on immersion boot camp will explore using the formula editor to create customized solutions to challenging report design requirements.

Major Topics Include:
  • Overview of the Web Intelligence formula editor
  • Use many of the unique Web Intelligence built-in functions to build customize solutions such as:
    • Automate report titles, etc. by referencing user prompts
    • Display date values formatted based on the users locale settings
    • Reference ASCII codes (new line, currency symbols, etc.) in formulas and cells
    • Convert string and data values per report design requirements

Tuesday June 23rd – Module 6

Dynamically Displaying Data

Intended Audience:

This module is intended for users and report designers who are experienced in Web Intelligence 4.1 and need to learn techniques to both group data values, and display data conditionally at the report level.

Prerequisites:

Attendees should have at least one year’s experience using Web Intelligence.

Synopsis:

Sometimes a report developer is presented with challenging requests to display values in unique ways, and with little help at the universe level. This hands-on immersion boot camp will explore two main techniques available in Web Intelligence 4.1 to assist with such requests. These techniques include grouping data values, and using conditional formatting and display.

Major Topics Include:
  • Grouping data values using:
    • If/Then/Else formula
    • Personal data providers
    • The new custom grouping feature in Web Intelligence 1
  • Conditional Formatting
